In the employment notification no. GOB (I) 40/2016, Karnataka High Court has announced that they are going to recruit 49 District Judges in Bengaluru. Candidates holding Law Degree and interested in making their career in Law, are invited for the application. As per the notification recently released on the official site of the Karnataka HC www.karnatakajudiciary.kar.nic.in, it is mentioned that the candidates can apply for the post only if they fulfill the eligibility criteria of the vacancy required for the position of District Judge.
Interested as well as eligible candidates can apply online on or before 30th June. If any candidate applies after 30th of June 2016, the application will not be considered as eligible. They also have to submit their application fee, not after 4th of July 2016. The exam date will be intimidated by the Karnataka HC authority, and the pay scale will be Rs. 51550-63070/-.
Karnataka High Court District Judge Exam 2016
The above-mentioned exam will be conducted by Karnataka High Court in three steps. These steps consist the Preliminary Exam, Main Examination, and Viva. The Preliminary and Main examination will be held on written basis. Only the selected candidates will be called for Personal Interview.
Karnataka High Court Exam Details
In Prelims Exam, the question paper will be set on the objective type (multiple choice questions). The paper consists 100 marks and candidates have to finish the paper within 90 minutes of time. The Question paper will be separated into three divisions, One for Civil Law, other for Criminal Law and the rest is allotted for General Knowledge. In General Knowledge, candidates have to answer questions related to reasoning and mental attitude.
High Court of Karnataka Recruitment Syllabus
In Main Exams, Candidates have to appear for two papers containing 150 marks each. The time allotted for completing the each paper is three hours, and the papers will set by the authority on the subjects Civil Law and Criminal Law. It is compulsory for the candidates to answer in the English language at least in one paper. Candidates also can opt the choice of answer two papers in English as well. The choice of Paper entirely depends on the candidates.
The Viva will be taken in the last part that also carries 50 marks. In the Interview round, candidates will be judged depending on their general knowledge, grasp of the law and suitability for the recruitment as the Karnataka HC District Judge.

Age Limit: The upper age limit for the Candidates is 48 years. It is for the candidates belong to SC/ ST category. For others, the maximum age of the candidate should be 45 years according to the last date fixed for application receipt.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a Degree in Law approved by a University established by Law in India. He/ she should be an Advocate in the High Court or in a Subordinate Court with adequate experience in the relevant field.
Application Fee: As an application fee for the District Judge Examination, General candidates have to pay Rs. 500/- as a challan. In case of SC/ST/Category-I candidates mentioned in the official notification, Rs. 250/- will be paid by the candidates through Challan that will generate online.
